TCO
The feature of Sotozeo which you cannot do quickly in Excel is to find many-to-one or many-to-many matches rather than just one-to-one matches.
For STZ, STN and TCZ to be relevant, you usually have some element of different grouping from the two sides/lists/systems.
Many-to-one and many-to-many matches happen fairly often in the order/picking-list/delivery/invoicing/payment cycle.
That is not often the case when reconciling bank accounts, although some systems have been set up to post E.g. Net and VAT on one side and Gross on the other.
But even if most postings on the two sides match one-to-one, there is one situation where many-to-many is relevant.
That is if you are clearing reconciliations which start with Opening Balances (rather than all transactions since the beginning of time)
The many-to-many aspect here is of the Opening Balance A plus transactions already in Opening Balance B matching with the Opening Balance B plus transactions already in Opening Balance A.
That can read like a puzzle, and is probably easier to see as a picture - see at right.
So the numbers that net out to zero are the ones you do NOT need in your next reconciliation.
i.e. this generates the final reconciliation indirectly.
Here is a Demonstration with the simple numbers:
TCO-b
Result:
1.6S.html
And here is a larger one:
TCO-b
Result:
1.6L.html
If there are transactions in one of the Opening Balances which are not in either the other Opening Balance nor the list of transactions on the other side, then there will be no Solution.
Sometimes you will be able to generate the reconciliation as of now directly, using
TCB.
